My dad was a manly fan.He was from Enfield but travelled to north narrabeen to surf so he had a love affair with the area.I had no choice lol.Theres a large extension/games room at my parents house and one time when mum went out dad painted the roof maroon and the walls white. The crap hit the fan when mum got home but what was done was done.I spent my younger years going to games everywhere with dad for me it was more than just a team you follow.Manly for me reminds me of great memories with dad,a passion that will never die and the us against the world mentality that I'm sure fellow manly fans would understand. In recent years grand final day was a family affair when manly made the GF.Mum and dad couldn't afford to go to the Gf and I didn't want to watch it without them so we just made a big day out of it.The 2013 GF wasn't the best result but we had a great day with family and it was the last time I saw my dad alive. He passed away the next weekend. It made that day even more special to me..I got offered so many tickets to the game and was even offered corporate box seats worth over 3 grand but I just had to watch it with my family .. My dad's final resting place Is Brookvale oval.Three weeks ago we travelled up there and spread my dad's ashes from the point where the players run on to the field to where the ball is kicked off:So when we watch our beloved sea eagles play at home I know my dad is there watching with me.. R.I.P David Falle Manly for life #GOManly Nice story thanks for sharing

I guess I grew up in the era when you went for the team where you lived ... as it turned out I was very, very lucky we lived on the Northern Beaches because I ended up with the best team with the best culture, with the best players and most successful team in the modern game. As a girl I watched the Sea Eagles win their first premiership from the hill at the SCG, funnily enough against Eastern Suburbs. We won that game and if Shayne Hayne had been anywhere else but Homebush last October, we would have won that one as well So great to read how everyone became Manly fans ... 40nilbiatch - your story was awesome. This is going to be a fantastic forum!

for me it was simple and quite smart may I add, 1992 Grade 2 and the school bully was a manly fan, so to stop getting beaten up...as they say if you can't beat em, join em.. and I've been hooked ever since. have met most iif the current and great past players but my favourite encounter was back in 98 we had been driving through johns river, which is on the way to port Macquarie and we stopped at the petrol station there, and cliffy Lyons was filling up his car and I will never forget that he shouted me and my brothers some Saxbys Cherry Cheer we he went to pay... Great man and great soft drink...

I didn't realise there were other teams. lol. Everyone I know supports a Qld side or some shitty club like the Dragons. I like to swim against the current. And I enjoy success.
