Hi all, this is my first post so I figured I might as well make it a controversial one.
I believe manly should attempt to make some sort of trade with the bulldogs. While they are a club with plenty of quality forward depth they are craving a quality fullback to fill the void left by Ben Barba's departure.
At Manly we have such a quality fullback who deserves better than to languish in reserve grade all year in Peta Hiku.
so why not see if the bulldogs are willing to trade a greg eastwood or david klemmer type, we get another quality front rower to cover Richie's retirment while still having ample WFB cover in Blair, berryman etc. the bulldogs get a quality fullback and peta gets to play first grade.
everybody wins! thoughts?

Welcome mate... Good to see you on here. I don't think the prop situation is as dire as what many believe. We've lost 5 in Rose, Joe G, Kitey, Fa'aoso and Gower (Flower Power). The five who can step in and take their places can be Ligi Sao, Jake T, Starling, Dunamis Lui and Tyson Andrews. Also James Hasson will improve after his first year in the top grade. As for Hiku, he may find himself on the wing and it may be the hairy one looking to crack a spot. The competition is good. I say let the bulldogs suffer and make do with what we have got.

Welcome to forum dancingzorbaI understand the point your making. The only problem is it's been 2008 since Brett Has played every game. We will need hiku this year. I think Luke odonnell is the man to chase Keep up the controversy it give us more to discuss

I agree a free agent would be more ideal CAMBO but if we don't have any room to play with in the cap could be the only option. I think we're doomed to lose Hiku anyway and most see Clinton Gutherson and Tom Trbojevic as the heirs apparent to the fullback spot. picking up someone like Aidan Tolman (who I think the dogs are keen to offload) could make or break our season. I agree Hiku is a great player, but having someone to fill in for snake for 4 or 5 games vs a top shelf prop to play week in week out is more valuable in my opinion.

I understand what you're saying but i think hiku is to valuable to let go. I think hiku might get more game time in the number 5. Backs fighting for spots is a good problem to have. As for the front row, if Ritchie has to retire he will no longer be in the salary cap freeing up room to buy a prop anyway so we can keep hiku and maybe buy an experienced prop but I'm excited about these young forwards coming thru

Welcome mate!
I'm looking forward to seeing Lui play. He will definitely want to prove Brisbane wrong. Jake T, Lawrence, Sao, Starling. It be fine. Same stuff got said this time last year.

i see hiku getting matai's spot when he decides to hang the boots up if he sticks around. by the time that happens he will be very experienced in game time and still a young fella, and probably still growing. depends if he has patience, or has bigger dollars thrown at him and a firsts spot offered straight up. good things come to those who wait... sadly patience isn't a big thing in league these days.

Good idea, we could get Trex back, would go well in the front row like george rose, short and hard
