The Lurker is back for his midweek installment with news about a potential comeback for one of NRL's bad boys
Tauamata on the comeback trail
Serial bad boy Arana Taumata is on the verge of yet another comeback to big time footy. Taumata, a loose cannon off the field but a quality player on it, is close to signing a deal with the Newtown Jets. The Jets are the feeder team for the Sydney Roosters and if Taumata gets his life together, he could get a run with the Roosters' top side during the representative season. Still only 24, Taumata has played at the Broncos, Roosters, Bulldogs, Storm, Tigers, Cowboys and Panthers - with most of his stints ending in tears. During his time with the Panthers, Taumata was found guilty of stealing a prescription pad from the club doctor and he finally left the club at the end of 2012, taking a break from football in a bid to get his life together. The Kiwi-born pivot could beging his Newtown career as early as this weekend. Ironically, Taumata actually played a couple of trials with Newtown when he was at the Roosters in 2007.
Broncos CEO earning big bucks
Rival NRL club CEOs are green with envy after the Broncos revealed how much their main man is on in their recently-released annual report. Paul White earns a cool $466,000 according to the document - well ahead of most of his peers in the NRL. Some CEOs are on less than half that - and will undoubtedly go to their boards now asking for a pay rise.
Mossop an unhappy Eel
Englishman Lee Mossop is on the injured list at Parra before he even plays a game - but he is also not happy with life at his new club. Mossop has been telling mates that several aspects of his contract have not been provided by the Eels and he has been in dispute with the club. The England Test forward joined the club this season from Wigan but isn't expected to make his debut until mid-season due to a shoulder injury.
Carney a certain starter
I told you after Round 1 that Todd Carney's hamstring injury would sideline him for a further week, but he'll definitely be back for the local derby against the Dragons on Saturday night. The Sharks are legless (pardon the pun) without him and will roll him out there in a wheelchair if they have to. We're only a fortnight into the season but these are already desperate times for the Shire club. Andrew Fifita's decision to leave the club has caused more drama than the Sharks are letting on.
