Newcastle Knights centre Joey Leilua is poised to re-sign with the club after rejecting a bid by the New Zealand Warriors to entice him across the Tasman.
The new two year deal will keep him at the club until the end of the 2016 season with the former Sydney Roosters bad-boy hardly putting a foot wrong since his move to Newcastle under Wayne Bennett last season.
“He’s been a priority signing for us and while it’s not quite done yet, it’s not far away,” Knights CEO Matt Gidley said.
